Breast Augmentation Introduction

Introduction to
Breast Augmentation

Aviva Cosmetic & Laser Clinic offers a complete array of aesthetic and reconstructive procedures for the breast, including Breast Augmentation. By placing carefully selected implants within the breast mounds, we can create a more voluptuous bustline while preserving a natural, harmonious appearance. As a result, our breast augmentation patients look and feel more feminine and often enjoy trying out new clothing styles and flaunting their new physique in a bikini. If you have been thinking about breast augmentation in Toronto, read on to learn more about this procedure and how it can help you achieve a more feminine breast appearance.

What is a Breast Augmentation?

Breast Augmentation (a.k.a. augmentation mammoplasty) is an FDA-approved surgical procedure that helps women who are dissatisfied with the contour, size, or fullness of their breasts, or would like to improve breast asymmetry.

There are many important decisions to make when it comes to breast implant surgery that our Toronto patients will need to consider, such as using saline implants or silicone implants, but we will be sure to go over all of these decisions during your consultation and discuss the pros and cons of each to help you to make an informed decision.

Breast implants have an exterior silicone implant shell, filled with either saline or a silicone gel, both having their strengths and weaknesses. Saline breast implants generally have more rippling and have the potential to leak, whereas silicone implants can have a different feel to both the patient wearing them and the person touching them.

What is Breast Asymmetry?

Silicone Breast Implants

Silicone gel breast implants are usually softer to the touch and tend to have a more natural feel. The newer silicone gel filler is semi-solid, making the danger of breast implant rupture or leakage significantly lower than older breast implants.

Saline Breast Implants

Saline-filled implants are filled with a sterile saline solution, very similar to the saltwater that’s in the human body. Unlike silicone implants, saline implants can either be pre-filled or filled to their ideal level once they are inserted empty into the breast pocket.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

Not all Toronto Breast augmentation patients are comfortable with having a foreign object inside of them, but would still like larger breasts. In this situation, we can provide our patients with natural breast augmentation that uses fat cells from their bodies.

After using Liposuction on areas of your body with sufficient excess fat, the cells are purified and then injected into your breasts for additional volume and improved breast shape.

Candidates
Who are the best candidates for the Breast Augmentation procedure?

Breast augmentation might be for you if you feel self-conscious because of your small breast size and would like to add more volume to your bustline. In addition, the surgery can help you restore the volume that you once had but have lost due to weight changes, childbirth, or illness. In either case, we can help you increase the volume of your breasts with the help of breast implants. This procedure is often combined with a breast lift for women whose breasts are both deflated and saggy.

Common reasons why women seek breast augmentation include:

  • Genetically small breasts
  • Reduced breast volume due to massive weight loss
  • Changed breast appearance after childbirth
  • Loss of breast volume due to various medical conditions

What’s the first step?

Our medical team begins each treatment by conducting several presurgical consultations. During this time, we evaluate the physique, existing breast volume, skin elasticity, and muscle structure of the prospective Toronto breast augmentation patient. We also carefully study the patient’s general health history and ask detailed questions about any medications, vitamins, and supplements the patient is taking.

In addition to obtaining vital medical information, we take the time to learn about each patient’s aesthetic concerns and aspirations. We strive to create an environment in which you can relax and openly discuss your aesthetic goals and wishes. We use this information to recommend the most appropriate type and size of breast implants. While we offer a variety of implant types, we have found that the best results are usually attained with silicone breast implants. These implants, which come in various shapes, sizes, and textures, produce the most natural look and feel. In addition, silicone breast implants have been deemed safe by government regulatory agencies.

What to expect on the day of Breast Augmentation surgery

Depending on the patient’s anatomy and personal preferences, we begin the surgery by creating incisions under the breasts, around the nipples, or in the armpits. We then use these openings to place the implants in the breast mounds. Silicone breast implants can be placed in one of three locations: completely under the chest muscle, partially under the chest muscle or above the muscle, and immediately under the glandular tissue. The best placement option for you will depend on the amount of breast tissue you have as well as your preferred aesthetic outcome.

After the implants have been placed, the incisions are then closed. We might place drainage tubes within the breasts to drain any excess fluids and speed the healing process. The drains will be removed within one week. We ask our patients to wear a special surgical bra for several weeks after the procedure to promote healing and protect the breasts. Our surgical team carefully monitors our patients’ progress during the recovery period to promptly address any complications. As a result, the vast majority of our breast augmentation Toronto patients achieve exceptional breast enhancement results.

Breast Augmentation recovery

After your Breast Augmentation, you will be kept in a recovery room for a few hours, during which time the recovery staff will closely monitor you. Once released, you will be able to go home at the end of the day, but you should arrange a ride home because you will not be able to drive just yet. Before leaving the recovery facility, you will be provided with some recovery instructions and temporary prescription pain medication to make your breast augmentation recovery more tolerable.

You will be able to gradually resume an exercise routine about one week after your breast augmentation, except for chest muscle exercises, which can usually be resumed around six weeks. We encourage you to not rush your recovery by using your pectoralis muscle prematurely because it can lead to potential complications such as displacement of the implant to the sides, fluid collection, or an increased risk of capsular contracture.

Most patients can return to work and other daily duties within seven to 10 days. You should not exercise or perform any strenuous physical activities for up to four weeks. Your provider will see you regularly to check on your healing progress. They will also show you various ways to massage your breasts so that your implants settle appropriately and give you the natural results you desire.

Your provider will do their best to ensure any breast augmentation scars are mostly hidden, but the visible ones will naturally fade over time.
