What to expect on the day of Body Lift surgery
On the day of your Body Lift surgery, you should expect to be at our clinic for at least a few hours. Depending on which areas of the body your surgeon will be focusing on, will determine how long you will be in surgery.
A Body lift procedure requires extensive incisions. Incision length and pattern depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed, as well as surgical judgment. Advanced techniques usually allow incisions to be placed in strategic locations where they can be hidden by most types of clothing and swimsuits, which your surgeon will discuss during your consultation.
The first step is to administer a type of anesthesia to minimize pain during the surgery. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.
Next, the surgeon will make the incisions on the parts of your body they will be working on. One common technique of complete lower body lift uses incisions similar to a bikini pattern to tighten the abdomen, groin, waist, thigh, and buttock in one procedure. An incision around the body removes an apron of excess skin and fat and repositions and tightens tissues.
Surgical body lifts may require liposuction to achieve an improved contour.
Once the contouring is complete, your surgeon will close the incisions. Deep sutures within underlying tissues help to form and support the newly shaped contours. Sutures, skin adhesives, tapes, or clips may be used to close the skin incisions.
The results of a body lift are visible almost immediately. It may take as long as one to two years for the final results to fully develop. After the procedure, our medical staff will take you to our comfortable waiting room area to recover.

Before you leave our clinic, your medical team will equip you with information about post-surgery recovery, and the prescriptions you may need during this time. We will give you all the information you need to know about follow-up appointments, what to look out for in your wound areas, and what to keep an eye on. These instructions are extremely important and will determine your recovery, healing, and ultimate results. Your doctor may also recommend compression garments, depending on the surgery. It is important to follow post-operative recovery advice to ensure your body heals properly.
