Below is a list of some of the more common skin conditions we treat and some suggested treatment methods that we offer.

Acne

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It causes whiteheads, blackheads, or pimples. Acne is most common among teenagers, though it affects people of all ages and can be persistent, with pimples and bumps seeming to heal, once they begin to go away, others seem to crop up. Depending on its severity, acne can cause emotional distress and scar the skin.

Cherry Angiomas

A Cherry Angioma is a benign tumor that results from an overgrowth of capillaries, can vary in size, and appears as a mole-like skin growth made up of small blood vessels or capillaries. The causes of cherry angiomas are largely unknown, although experts believe they tend to be genetic.

Large Pores

Large Pores are depressions in the facial skin surface that contain one or more openings to the ducts carrying sweat and oil from their respective eccrine glands and sebaceous glands. While they can vary in size, you will be able to see them without a microscope, and appear as small dots on the skin of your face. Some people can reduce their pore size with routine cleaning and proper skin care, but not everyone is so lucky. Aviva’s team of experts can help you minimize your large pores for a smoother-looking face.

Melasma

Melasma is a common skin problem that creates dark, discolored patches on your skin. While it can disappear on its own, most patients require cosmetic treatments to completely take care of them. While it can affect both sexes, women tend to get it more often than men, especially after pregnancy.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a skin condition that affects parts of the face. It is sometimes called acne rosacea, as it can look similar to acne, however, it is a different condition to acne. While the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, symptoms can include flushing of the face, similar to blushing, small lumpy red spots (papules) and small cysts (pustules) on the face, telangiectasia on the face, and/or thickening skin.

Scars (including Acne Scars)

There is no reason to let skin imperfections such as scars get in the way of how you look and feel. Aviva utilizes a variety of treatments to effectively target your scars and encourage the creation of new collagen and healthy skin cells. This helps restore a more youthful glow and smoother texture to your skin. A series of treatments is often required, depending on the aesthetician’s assessment of your skin’s condition.

Skin Tags

Skin Tags are small pieces of soft, hanging skin that can also have a stalk and they often appear in areas where the skin frequently rubs against (ie. other areas of skin or clothing). They are often found in areas like the eyes, armpits, under the breast, neck, and upper chest. Skin tags are very common later on in life and can affect men and women equally. Although they are not dangerous, they can cause some aesthetic concerns among patients.

Spider Veins

Spider veins, also known as telangiectasias or thread veins, are prominent clusters of damaged small blood vessels in the skin. They can appear as red, blue, or purple lines and branch out from a central location resulting in a spider-like appearance. This non-threatening condition affects hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, but there are many looking to get rid of them completely if not at least reduce their appearance. The skin specialists at Aviva Cosmetic & Laser Clinic are here to help you diminish these unsightly veins with some of our perfectly designed treatments.

Our experienced aestheticians use the latest in medical standard laser resurfacing technology to rapidly diminish the appearance of stretch marks. You can expect virtually no downtime following this procedure and look forward to a better you.

Sun Spots

Pretty much everyone loves being out in the sun, and even those that don’t, there’s very little escaping that fiery ball in the sky. Sunspots are little areas of hyperpigmentation that are generally harmless and are caused by years of sun exposure which triggers pigment-producing cells called melanocytes in your skin to produce more pigment in a small concentrated area. Aviva’s skin care specialists can help you find the best treatment to reduce and potentially erase the spots for an improved skin appearance.

Vascular Lesions

Aviva can safely and comfortably fade the appearance of skin imperfections caused by the sun, uneven skin tones, spider veins, and age spots. We utilize advanced elōs technology – the safest, most effective medical device available for skin rejuvenation treatments. It uses combined energies to effectively and gently restore your youthful, healthy-looking skin. This usually requires a series of treatments that result in gradual lightening and improvement of pigmented and vascular imperfections.

Warts

Warts are small skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and a common skin complaint, especially in younger patients. They look like hard, raised lumps with rough surfaces and can affect any part of the body, but the knees, feet, and hands are the most commonly affected areas. Even though they are harmless, they can cause a lot of concern in a patient’s self-image. Our stellar team of skin experts can help you get rid of these ugly little “add-ons” and feel better in your skin.
